Directly from Brooklyn via Newark and SFO, I drove my sister to the Castro for some Japanese at Eiji. We started with their famous Oboro Tofu. Beginning with this dish, the entire meal was delicate and decadent, the flavors light and complex. The silky tofu was topped with sesame seeds, scallions, fresh and pickled ginger, shaved bonito flakes, and shiso leaf.

After dinner, I made sure my sister truly went coast to coast… to one of my favorite spots, sutro baths at sunset.
